### P4G Community Enhancement Pack (P4G CEP) is an all-in one collection of tools and mods for the 2020 Steam release of Persona 4 Golden.

## Comprehensive Setup

P4G CEP contains **every tool** needed to set up and play P4G with mods, along with step-by-step instructions for setup and additional tips and tricks.

## Faithful Enhancements

P4G CEP includes over 50 enhancement mods contributed by [the GameBanana modding community](https://gamebanana.com/games/8263), improving on the base game without radically changing the experience.

Whether it's improved textures, faster fast travel, or just making Dojima's portrait blink, these mods make for a better first or five hundredth playthrough of P4G.

## Total Customization

P4G CEP allows for any mod to be enabled or disable individually using the **Reloaded II** mod loader. Users can also download additional mods from GameBanana to further customize their game.

## Cross-Compatible

P4G CEP is fully compatible with unmodded P4G save data—no need to start a new game! You will not lose any story progress and all Steam achievements can still be earned.

## Ease of Access

P4G CEP is made with beginners to modding in mind. It contains detailed instructions and illustrations, and everything is neatly organized to encourage good practices when modding games.

# Final Release FAQ

Information regarding P4G CEP's final release.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**p4g.cep.one will go offline on 31 December 2027.**

**P4G CEP will still be available for download on GameBanana and Nexus Mods.**\
**A complete archive of this site is now included with the project.**
{% endhint %}

## After over four years, P4G Community Enhancement Pack has been finalized.

The pack will continue to work, but it will no longer get updates and support.

We'd like to thank all of the mod and tool creators who made this pack possible, as well as all of our wonderful users who provided feedback and encouragement over the years.

## Why end support?

* P4G CEP is in an incredibly stable state—we receive fewer than one support ticket per month.
* After nearly five years, most of the P4G modding community has moved onto other games or projects. Additions to the pack slowed down because there's not much to add!
* We're all preparing for the upcoming release of Persona 4 Revival!

## Where should I go from here?

P4G CEP is still working great. If you're happy with it, you can keep using it!

The mods and tools included in P4G CEP will continue to receive automatic updates from their creators, but the prerequisites to run Reloaded II may update in the future. Keep an eye on the [**Reloaded II website**](https://reloaded-project.github.io/Reloaded-II/) and [**GitHub repository**](https://github.com/Reloaded-Project/Reloaded-II/) for any important changes.

If you're looking for new mods to add to P4G, you can browse and download them on [**GameBanana**](https://gamebanana.com/games/17755). Keep an eye on the upcoming [**P4 Fog Restoration**](https://gamebanana.com/wips/86080) mod—BrawlerAce is doing some incredibly cool overhaul work with it.

## What about the installation instructions?

Offline installation instructions are now included with P4G CEP on [**GameBanana**](https://gamebanana.com/mods/download/50961) and [**Nexus Mods**](https://www.nexusmods.com/persona4golden/mods/11?tab=files).

They can be opened on the website [**replayweb.page**](https://replayweb.page/) or with any WACZ / WARC archive viewer.

# Getting Started

Requirements and initial setup.

{% hint style="info" %}
**P4G CEP was finalized on 19 April 2025.**

The pack still works, but it will no longer receive updates or support.\
Information on these pages may be outdated.

See the [**Final Release FAQ**](/final-release) for more information.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**p4g.cep.one will go offline on 31 December 2026.**

**P4G CEP will still be available for download on GameBanana and Nexus Mods.**\
**A complete archive of this site is now included with the project.**
{% endhint %}

## Requirements

* A registered installation of **64-bit Windows 11** or newer
  * [**Windows 10** will no longer be supported **October 2025**](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-of-support)

{% hint style="info" %}
P4G CEP is also available for the **Steam Deck**.

Open the **p4g-cep-deck-docs.wacz** file for installation instructions.
{% endhint %}

* An unmodified installation of [**Persona 4 Golden**](https://steamcommunity.com/app/1113000/) from Steam
  * Only English **text** language is supported
  * Both English and Japanese **voices** are supported
* At least **7 GB of free space** on your hard drive

{% hint style="warning" %}
The following platforms are not supported:

* **Console** releases of P4 or P4G
* The **Microsoft Store / PC Game Pass** release of P4G
* **Mac** or **Linux** desktop PCs
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
We do not provide support for pirated copies of the game.
{% endhint %}

## Launch P4G

* Before going any further, launch P4G on your PC through **Steam**.
* Once you reach the title screen, quit the game.

{% hint style="info" %}
This step serves two purposes:

* If this is your first time launching P4G, it ensures the game runs OK on your PC.
* If it has been a while since you last played P4G, launching the game will refresh your **Denuvo DRM** activation token. Playing with mods before obtaining an active Denuvo token can make the game refuse to launch.
  {% endhint %}

## Show File Extensions

By default, Windows Explorer hides the extensions of file types it recognizes (.EXE, .PNG, etc.).

It's important that these be visible when setting up mods or asking for support, so we will make sure Windows always shows file extensions for all file types.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Windows 11" %}

* Open a **File Explorer** window (it doesn't matter where).
* Click the **View** button at the top of the window.
* Click **Show > File name extensions**.

![](/files/YdqG61a6yT5varb2ahdq)
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Windows 10" %}

* Open a **File Explorer** window (it doesn't matter where).
* Click the **View** tab at the top of the window.
* Check the box labelled **File name extensions** if it is not checked already.

![](/files/-MfxeWufzGGKWGCecpxs)
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Upgrade from Older P4G CEP

{% hint style="success" %}
If this is your first time using P4G CEP, skip this step.
{% endhint %}

If you are upgrading from an older version of P4G CEP, you will need to delete some legacy modding files to make way for the new ones.

Follow the instructions below based on what version of P4G CEP you were using before:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="13.x" %}

* Follow the instructions in [**Upgrade P4G CEP**](/upgrade/upgrade) to get the latest v13 mods.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="12.x – 11.x" %}

### **Delete Old Reloaded II + Setup Folders**

* Open your old **P4G Mods** folder.
* Delete the **.Reloaded II** folder and **Setup** folder inside.

![](/files/Bgul7ZNfaNl0SMmCdp5s)

### Moving On

On the next page, make sure to choose the following tab:

* **I already have a P4G Mods folder**
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="10.x – 5.x" %}

### **Delete Old Reloaded II + Setup Folders**

* Open your old **P4G Mods** folder.
* Delete the **.Reloaded II** folder and **Setup** folder inside.

![](/files/Bgul7ZNfaNl0SMmCdp5s)

{% hint style="info" %}
**Aemulus Package Manager** is no longer used for modding P4G on PC - we now use a new mod loader called **Persona Essentials** that works with all of the PC Persona games directly through Reloaded II.

Keep your **Aemulus** folder if you are still using it to mod Persona 5 Strikers or one of the console/emulated Persona games; otherwise, you can delete it.
{% endhint %}

### Moving On

On the next page, make sure to choose the following tab:

* **I already have a P4G Mods folder**
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="4.x – 1.x" %}

### Delete Old Folders

Delete the following old folders, if you have them:

* **Reloaded-II**
* **Aemulus Package Manager**

### **Moving On**

On the next page, make sure to choose the following tab:

* **I don't have a P4G Mods folder**
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

# Download and Prepare

Set up modding folders and install prerequisite runtimes.

## Download P4G CEP

Download the latest version of P4G CEP now if you haven't already.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="186.57142857142856">Site</th><th>Link</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Site</td><td>Link</td></tr><tr><td>Download from <strong>GameBanana</strong></td><td><a href="https://gamebanana.com/mods/download/50961">https://gamebanana.com/mods/download/50961</a></td></tr><tr><td>Download from <strong>Nexus Mods</strong></td><td><a href="https://www.nexusmods.com/persona4golden/mods/11?tab=files">https://www.nexusmods.com/persona4golden/mods/11?tab=files</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Set Up P4G-Mods Folder

We will use a dedicated directory for our P4G modding tools. If you ever need to create a file backup, take a screenshot, or write down a note, save it in this folder to stay organized.

<details>

<summary>Important Terms</summary>

* **P4G-Mods** folder: A unified folder for your P4G modding setup.

  There are four folders in the **P4G-Mods** folder:

  * **\_Reloaded-II**: This folder contains the **Reloaded II** mod loader.\
    You'll learn more about it soon!
  * **Backups**: Use this folder to store any important files or folders you want to save.
  * **Notes:** Use this folder to store any information you think is worth keeping.
  * **Setup:** Use this folder to store the prerequisite runtimes your modding tools need.

</details>

### Prepare P4G-Mods Folder

* Unzip your downloaded P4G CEP archive.
* Open the unzipped archive and locate the **P4G-Mods** folder inside.

<figure><img src="/files/aOSX8h1Kf2UdLeCsP2Qz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Copy P4G-Mods Folder

What you do next depends on whether you already have a **P4G-Mods** folder from a previous P4G CEP installation on your PC.

{% hint style="info" %}
The old folder may be named **P4G Mods** (with a space) instead of **P4G-Mods**.
{% endhint %}

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="I don't have a P4G-Mods folder" %}

* Move the **P4G-Mods** folder to a suitable location on your PC.

{% hint style="info" %}
We recommend creating a new top-level directory such as **C:\Mods** and placing your **P4G-Mods** folder inside it.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/5UdzfR0pn0cgc0X5cphX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/10JE0pRJVkjPGKmkYaGW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="I already have a P4G-Mods folder" %}

* In a new window, open your old **P4G-Mods** folder that was already on your PC.

![You should have already deleted your old .Reloaded II and Setup folders.](/files/4CaoRmGs5eJsarMyRucM)

* Copy just the \_**Reloaded-II**, **Artwork**, and **Setup** folders from the new **P4G Mods** folder to your old **P4G Mods** folder. Keep your old **Backups** and **Notes** folders.

<figure><img src="/files/Hh53PXoy5lnJdftTY8mN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Double-check your folder path!**

Make sure your **P4G-Mods** folder is NOT in any of these locations:

* **OneDrive**

![](/files/WEgdRnfeA00jCSDu7ixe)

* **Program Files** / **Program Files (x86)**

![](/files/twvVa6FlBpn4h4r2lqEr)

* The **Downloads**, **Documents**, or **Desktop** folders

![](/files/0KChEagHsP6J5jf16cAM)

* The **Music**, **Pictures**, or **Videos** folders

![](/files/0SVxJz2eL6U3vr8tSt71)

* Any **Steam** or **Steam library** folder

![](/files/MFdNt8YVr7FSMGIRAfv2)

![](/files/wJCqcpb5PRNuUULlSuoE)

* The **Persona 4 Golden** game folder

![](/files/JfckziVfWbZCrdieL2Qz)\
\
If your **P4G-Mods** folder is in one of these locations, you must move it to a different location before continuing. As mentioned above, we recommend **C:\Mods**.
{% endhint %}

## Install Prerequisites

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Do not skip this step**, even if you've already done this before!

These runtimes get updated regularly with performance and security fixes.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The [**Persona Prerequisite Installer**](https://gamebanana.com/tools/6928) can automatically download and install these prerequisites for you, but it is now separately maintained by MadMax1960.

If you use it and something doesn't work, you will need to follow these manual installation instructions or go to MadMax1960 for support.
{% endhint %}

There are a few core runtime libraries that our modding tools require to run. We'll install them now.

<details>

<summary>Important Terms</summary>

* **Runtime:** A library of functions and instructions that your PC executes while a program is running. Many games and programs share the same common runtimes.
* [**Visual C++**](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/overview/visual-cpp-in-visual-studio?view=msvc-170): Microsoft's version of the C++ programming language.
* [**.NET**](https://dotnet.microsoft.com)**:** A free cross-platform software framework by Microsoft.&#x20;

</details>

### Download Prerequisites

{% hint style="danger" %}
Reloaded II regularly updates its prerequisites, so these instructions may be outdated.

Check the Reloaded II [**website**](https://reloaded-project.github.io/Reloaded-II/) and [**GitHub repository**](https://github.com/Reloaded-Project/Reloaded-II/) for up-to-date information.
{% endhint %}

* Download these prerequisites to your **P4G-Mods\Setup** folder:

<table><thead><tr><th width="351">Prerequisite</th><th>File Name</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><a href="https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/9.0"><strong>.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (Windows x64)</strong></a></td><td><code>windowsdesktop-runtime-9.0.##-win-x64.exe</code></td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/9.0"><strong>.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (Windows x86)</strong></a></td><td><code>windowsdesktop-runtime-9.0.##-win-x86.exe</code></td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-for-visual-studio-2022"><strong>Visual C++ Redistributable (Windows x64)</strong></a></td><td><code>vc_redist.x64.exe</code></td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-for-visual-studio-2022"><strong>Visual C++ Redistributable (Windows x86)</strong></a></td><td><code>vc_redist.x86.exe</code></td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Make sure you are downloading the **Windows** versions of each prerequisite and that you download both the **x64** and **x86** versions. You should have **4 EXE files** when you are done.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/Ml8OiRwrlX8gIJ8PPBeQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/xbF9Li56VBfAAQlPxYKP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/cs6TL3hF59v2DgmnquPY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Install Prerequisites

* Open your **P4G-Mods\Setup** directory and run `VC_redist.x64.exe`.
* Once the installer window appears (it may take a few seconds), follow the on-screen instructions to install the runtime.

<figure><img src="/files/VD0DilAPygrT9ULjvQrz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Repeat the above instructions for the rest of the prerequisites in the **Setup** folder:
  * **Visual C++ Redistributable (x86)**
  * **.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (x64)**
  * **.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (x86)**

Once all four prerequisites are installed, you're ready to move on.

# Steam and P4G

Configure Steam and verify your P4G installation is unmodified.

Before we set up mods for the game, we're going to configure a few settings in Steam to make sure you have the best experience.

## Open Steam Properties

* Open **Steam** and go to your game **Library**.

<figure><img src="/files/Jw6cbOCaYfmhLN4YInGT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Select **Persona 4 Golden** from your list of games.

<figure><img src="/files/lNHkysq9uZs4yO2jUvhL" alt=""><figcaption><p>Will there be a P5R CEP? Good question.</p></figcaption></figure>

* Right-click the game and select **Properties**.

![](/files/-Mfxfo9ppF92Iv6zzE4Y)

## Disable Automatic Updates

Updates to games can make mods stop working until their creators can update them for the new version. By disabling automatic updates, you'll be able to keep playing P4G with mods if it ever gets a surprise update.

* In the **Properties** window, select the **Updates** tab.
* Set **Automatic Updates** to **Wait until I launch the game**.

<figure><img src="/files/Grb4rVNkht2EBBSPUCVB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<details>

<summary>Wait a second, how will this help me if the game updates?<br>Steam is just going to update P4G as soon as I launch it!</summary>

Steam will only try to update P4G if it is launched *directly through Steam.* You're going to be launching the game through the **Reloaded II** mod manager instead.

This way, even if we get a surprise update that breaks mod compatibility, you'll still be able to play without updating.

</details>

## Set Text Language to English

{% hint style="info" %}
This setting only changes the language of the game's **text**, not the character voices.

P4G CEP is compatible with both English and Japanese character voices.
{% endhint %}

P4G CEP is only compatible with the **English-text** version of the game. If you are playing with another text language, you will need to change the game's Language setting in Steam.

* In the **Properties** window, select the **General** tab.
* Set **Language** to **English**.

<figure><img src="/files/FN3pFyTv1NQSOFNzuBlg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Clean Game Files

P4G CEP is only compatible with the latest unmodified version of the game.

To save a lot of time later, let's take a little time now to make sure you have the latest version of P4G and that it's not modified in any way.

{% hint style="warning" %}
P4G CEP is not compatible with the old **32-bit** version of P4G.\
These steps will permanently upgrade your game to the latest **64-bit** version.

For more information, refer to [**this GameBanana page**](https://gamebanana.com/blogs/19837).
{% endhint %}

### Verify Game Files

This command will compare your installed P4G files to the versions on Steam's servers. If Steam detects any differences between the files, it will re-download them so they match up.

* In the **Properties** window, select the **Installed Files** tab.
* Click **Verify integrity of game files**.

<figure><img src="/files/q0a8lDncPD8PaGVpN2XS" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* The **Verify** option will disappear and be replaced with a progress counter. Wait for it to finish.

<figure><img src="/files/CjbPSscD75pCSeBMGovV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You'll see one of two messages:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="All \_\_\_ files successfully validated" %}

<figure><img src="/files/VTEh1mpuXQiUQowDkiF2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
It's okay if you see a different number here.
{% endhint %}

* You're all set! Move onto the next step
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="\_\_\_ files failed to validate..." %}

<figure><img src="/files/7ox0xYjy3oeOCTPJLhmI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Some of your game files were missing, modified, or outdated. Steam will begin re-downloading these files to repair your installation.

* Wait for Steam to finish the repair process before continuing.

You can track the repair process in Steam's download manager, the same way you would with a game installation or update:

<figure><img src="/files/Wljz1UzqdizGUBzcyVxO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/DX3RSOa4mKW296Q1w0PL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Locate P4G.exe

**P4G.exe** is the name of the Persona 4 Golden executable program.\
When it comes to modding, It's important to know where P4G.exe is located on your computer.

<details>

<summary>Important Terms</summary>

* **P4G.exe** - The P4G program. When this is launched, the game starts.
* **Persona 4 Golden** folder - The folder containing **P4G.exe** and all of its game data.

</details>

* Staying in the **Installed Files** tab of the **Properties** window, click **Browse...** to open your **Persona 4 Golden** game folder in Windows Explorer.

<figure><img src="/files/hvzIHdbH4z9pnlxKXWoZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Make sure there is an executable file named **P4G.exe** in this folder (the yellow square with the protagonist's ***dreamy*** face on it).

<figure><img src="/files/RFRAD3CSbgLpdkk0oXWn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
It's okay if you don't have an **EXTRAS** folder.\
The EXTRAS folder contains the Digital Deluxe Edition soundtrack and art book.
{% endhint %}

* Click the address bar at the top of the window to see the full folder path.\
  **It's okay if your folder path is different from the one in this picture.**

<figure><img src="/files/3T3XCxhc12XYO3KfcZr8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Remember your folder path, as you will need it later.

{% hint style="success" %}
If you're worried you might forget the folder path, copy and paste the path from your address bar to a text file and save it in your **P4G-Mods\Notes** folder.
{% endhint %}

## Remove Legacy Mods and Patches

If you played P4G with mods before the **64-bit update**, you may still have leftover mod files in your **Persona 4 Golden** folder.

These legacy mods will not work with the 64-bit version of P4G, so we'll delete them now.

* If there is a folder in your **Persona 4 Golden** folder named **mods**, delete it.
* If there is a file in your **Persona 4 Golden** folder named **data00007.pac**, delete it.

# Reloaded II

Configure the Reloaded II mod injector.

P4G CEP includes a pre-configured version of the **Reloaded II** mod injector.&#x20;

Reloaded II is an [**open-source**](/resources/source-code) program that injects our mods into P4G using a mod loader named **Persona Essentials**.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Reloaded II is powerful software that enables arbitrary/custom code execution.\

[Customize Mods](/install/customize-mods)
{% endcontent-ref %}

# Customize Mods

Tweak the mods included with P4G CEP to your liking.

Time for the fun part! Let's go through some of the adjustments you can make to P4G CEP to really make it your own, as well as how to enable and disable the mods included with the pack.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Downloading more mods** will be covered later, after our first test run of the game.
{% endhint %}

## Open Mod Loadout

* In Reloaded II, select **Configure Mods** (or the protagonist's small ***dreamy*** face on the left) to open the mod loadout window.

## Configure for Japanese Dub

{% hint style="success" %}
If you plan to use the English dub in the game, skip this step.
{% endhint %}

If you plan on playing the game with the Japanese dub, you'll need to configure Reloaded II to use the Japanese version of the **Dungeon Text Fixes** mod.

* Under the FIXES divider, locate the two **Dungeon Text Fixes** mods:
  * **Dungeon Text Fixes**
  * **Dungeon Text Fixes (Japanese ver.)**

<figure><img src="/files/Q8HZTrmEkNydspC9r8IY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Disable** the English version of the mod by clicking the red plus sign next to **Dungeon Text Fixes**. This will change it into a grey minus sign.

<figure><img src="/files/HWkyIIdGahaxBXaV5maQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Skip Intro Logos

{% hint style="success" %}
If you don't want the game to skip the intro logos, skip this step.
{% endhint %}

You can have the game skip the Atlus / P-Studio logos and boot straight to the opening movie.

* Under the **ESSENTIALS** divider, select the **Persona Essentials** mod.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Make sure you are **selecting** Persona Essentials and not **disabling** it!\
Click on the "Persona Essentials" text, not the red plus sign.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/uAWJdK7eJ4Pwh3QirJ3T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If you don't want to change the default "Shadow World" opening movie, skip this step.
{% endhint %}

Shadow World not your jam? You can change the opening movie to "Pursuing My True Self" from the original Persona 4 or have the game choose one of the two openings at random.

* Under the **ESSENTIALS** divider, select the **Alternating Openings** mod.

{% hint style="warning" %}

Have fun customizing the modpack to suit your preferences!

{% hint style="warning" %}
Do not disable any of the mods in the **ESSENTIALS** section—they are core programs that are used to load mods into the game.

Do not reorder the mods included with P4G CEP. This load order has been specifically chosen to ensure no mods overwrite each other's functionality.
{% endhint %}

## Moving On

{% content-ref url="/pages/kMoDDZ01PWuMzK1lfIgk" %}
[Create Steam Shortcut](/install/create-steam-shortcut)
{% endcontent-ref %}

# Create Steam Shortcut

Create a shortcut to launch P4G with mods.

If you were to launch P4G now, Reloaded II would not launch and your mods would not be injected into the game. We need to create a shortcut to launch Reloaded II and have it load the game for us.

{% hint style="success" %}
Don't worry—Steam will continue tracking your play time, achievements, and cloud saves.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Some controllers may not work if P4G is launched from a Steam shortcut.\
If this happens, you will need to launch P4G from the Reloaded II application.
{% endhint %}

## Add Reloaded II to Steam

### Open Steam Window

* Open **Steam** and go to your game **Library**.

<figure><img src="/files/Jw6cbOCaYfmhLN4YInGT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* At the top of the window, select **Games** > **Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library...**

<figure><img src="/files/uI9FVTEzWlswxIMcZRfg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Add Executable Path

* In the **Add Non-Steam Game** window that appears, select **Browse...** to open a file picker window.

<figure><img src="/files/cZfgm26NeJLsUWS23yIJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Navigate to **Reloaded-II.exe** in your **P4G-Mods\\\_Reloaded-II** folder.

<figure><img src="/files/fHgIhcbxIEBiQUCiANOX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Select **Reloaded-II.exe**, then click **Open** in the bottom-right corner.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Make sure to select **Reloaded-II.exe** and not **Reloaded-II32.exe**.
{% endhint %}

A program called **Reloaded-II** should now be in the **Add Non-Steam Game** menu with a check next to it.

* If you can't see **Reloaded-II** in the menu, scroll down until you do.
* Click the box next to Reloaded-II to check it if it is not checked.

<figure><img src="/files/TFk8tkD5RPr1Ef4ThQBB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Once you've confirmed **Reloaded-II** is present and checked, select **Add Selected Programs**.

<figure><img src="/files/ExtVopKKWRDNjC97hpEY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You will now have a new shortcut in Steam for Reloaded II:

<figure><img src="/files/EUeeccNwbKQygxfRDx6G" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Configure Shortcut Properties

We don't just want this shortcut to launch Reloaded II, we want it to run P4G with our mods!

* Right-click **Reloaded-II** in your Steam library and select **Properties…**

<figure><img src="/files/dAekU7iiY3xngwd5XUPQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Customize Shortcut

* In the **Shortcut** tab, rename **Reloaded-II.exe** to **Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)**.
* Click the empty square next to the shortcut name to open the **Choose Icon** file picker.
  * Navigate to your **P4G-Mods\Artwork** folder and select **icon.png**.

<figure><img src="/files/PE8EKjgzylgeZteNIIQw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Adjust Launch Options

This will make Reloaded II launch P4G instead of just launching itself.

{% hint style="info" %}
You'll need to know your path to **P4G.exe** for this step.

If you don't remember your path, follow the steps in [**Locate P4G.exe**](https://p4g.cep.one/install/pages/-MfMIn7IJjCzuT-uAp-9#locate-p4g.exe) again.
{% endhint %}

* In the **Launch Options** box, enter the following text, using your own path to **P4G.exe**:

```
--launch "X:\YOUR\OWN\PATH\TO\steamapps\common\Persona 4 Golden\P4G.exe"
```

{% hint style="warning" %}
Make sure to keep the quotation marks on both sides of the path!
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/rumd0tQxsI0SiIdremik" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Add Artwork to Shortcut

We've prepared some custom artwork for your **Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)** shortcut, so you won't confuse it with the vanilla P4G entry in your library.

* Close the **Properties** window for Persona 4 Golden.
* Make sure you have a **Recent Games** shelf in your Steam library.
  * If you don't, use the dropdown or add a new shelf for **Recent Games**.

<figure><img src="/files/feRo37lFZsBtWFXAvoqc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/LSV86etP8Soaxo40vWHU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Apply Header Artwork

* Launch and immediately close **Persona 4 Golden (Relodaed)** in your Steam library.

This will expand the game's **header** art on the **Recent Games** shelf and move it all the way to the left.

<figure><img src="/files/ZQHBLQTwG422dzhBwdYn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Right-click the header and select **Manage > Set custom artwork** to open a file picker.

<figure><img src="/files/js5lS99eTWTHmQNwZz8T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Your header should immediately update.

<figure><img src="/files/qZp1zSqwGlpVEfQZTeSN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Apply Poster Artwork

* Launch any game other than **Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)** in your Steam library.

This will collapse the game into its **poster** art (or lack thereof).

<figure><img src="/files/WbdImxEoRTvnZmZxAhkO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Right-click the poster and select **Manage > Set custom artwork** to open a file picker.

{% endcontent-ref %}

# Final Steps

Wrap up installation and play Persona 4 Golden!

## A Few Tips Before Starting

### Save Often!

* **Save the game often and use all of the save slots.** You get 16 of them for a reason!
  * We recommend saving every night or every other night at the Dojima residence.

### Configuring Custom Sub Menu

* The first time you open the Sub Menu, you'll be asked to configure the **Custom Sub Menu**.
  * If you just want all the basic QOL improvements, simply press the back button and Custom Sub Menu will set itself up automatically.
  * If you'd like to know more about each feature, select it in the menu for a brief explanation and deeper customization options.
* You can change these settings at any time—open the Sub Menu and press the Command Menu button to get back to the configuration window. See the [**FAQ**](/appendix/faq#how-do-i-open-the-configuration-menu-for-custom-sub-menu) for more info.

## Launch Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)

* In Steam, Click **Play** on your **Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)** shortcut to launch P4G.

<figure><img src="/files/RfhTEhnjaAIYZgg0YUJt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/OQTMaJYSudo0nPUzb46v" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Mods will **not** be injected if you just click **Persona 4 Golden**'s Play button in Steam.

You must always start the game through one of the following methods:

* Clicking **Play** on your **Persona 4 Golden (Reloaded)** shortcut in Steam
* Clicking **Launch Application** in Reloaded II

![](/files/RrwhLcWNcQgDALJcXPKT)
{% endhint %}

* If you see the text "MOD LOADER ENABLED" on the title screen, your mods are working!

# Upgrade P4G CEP

Upgrade to the latest version of P4G CEP.

{% hint style="info" %}
These instructions are for users upgrading from P4G CEP v13.0 or later.\
If you are coming from an older version, follow the upgrade instructions in [**Getting Started**](/install/getting-started#upgrade-from-older-p4g-cep).
{% endhint %}

## Install New Prerequisites

{% hint style="danger" %}

{% endhint %}

Reloaded II **1.28+** now uses .NET 9, so you'll need to install those runtimes as well.

* Download the following prerequisites to your **P4G-Mods\Setup** folder and [**install them**](/install/download-and-prepare#install-prerequisites-1):

<table><thead><tr><th width="383">Prerequisite</th><th width="87">Added</th><th data-hidden></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><a href="https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/9.0"><strong>.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (Windows x64)</strong></a></td><td>13.6</td><td></td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/9.0"><strong>.NET 9 Desktop Runtime (Windows x86)</strong></a></td><td>13.6</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Update Reloaded II + Mods

Before adding new mods, let's make sure Reloaded II and your existing mods are up-to-date.

* Launch **Reloaded II** and wait about 20–30 seconds.

### Update Reloaded II

* If you see an **Update Available** window, select **Update**.\
  Reloaded II will automatically restart when the update is complete.

<figure><img src="/files/KCXDZsGzr5ksT7zWMEG8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Update Existing Mods

* If you see a **Mod Updates Available** window, select **Download**.\
  The window will automatically close when the updates are complete.

<figure><img src="/files/fWw8j6AdH4KDtleoxBl7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Arrange New Dependencies

Some mod updates can download additional dependencies automatically.\
Follow these instructions to arrange them in your loadout.

* Enable these dependencies, then move them to the listed spot in the load order.

<table><thead><tr><th width="194">Dependency Name</th><th width="94">Added</th><th>Load Order</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Ryo Framework</strong></td><td>13.2</td><td>Below <strong>Persona Essentials</strong><br>Above <strong>BGME Framework</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Shared Scans</strong></td><td>13.2</td><td>Below <strong>PAK Emulator for File Emulation Framework</strong><br>Above <strong>SPD Emulator for File Emulation Framework</strong></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Add New Mods

Starting with P4G CEP v13, new mods from later revisions of the pack do not download automatically. Follow these instructions to get the latest CEP mods.

* Download and enable these mods.\
  Visit [**Get More Mods**](/appendix/get-more-mods) for more information on downloading mods from GameBanana.

{% hint style="info" %}
Unless explicitly listed, adding these new mods is **optional**.\
The pack won't break if you aren't interested in downloading some or all of them.
{% endhint %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="287.5999755859375">Mod Name</th><th width="94.800048828125">Added</th><th width="308">Load Order</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><a href="https://gamebanana.com/mods/573212"><strong>Minor Bustup Fixes</strong></a></td><td>13.8</td><td>Below <strong>TFP+64</strong> – <strong>P3 Movie Posters</strong><br>Above <strong>Better Faces 64</strong></td></tr><tr><td><a href="https://gamebanana.com/mods/471894"><strong>Restored Margaret Lines</strong></a></td><td>13.8</td><td>Below <strong>*SPOILER* World Card</strong><br>Above <strong>Y. ## Remove Old Mods

Some mods are no longer included in newer releases of P4G CEP.\
Follow these instructions to remove them.

* Delete these folders in your **P4G-Mods\Reloaded-II\Mods** directory:

<table><thead><tr><th width="269">Mod Name</th><th width="94">Removed</th><th>Folder name</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>P4AU Follow-Up Portraits 64</strong></td><td>13.7</td><td><strong>p4gpc.p4aufollowupportraits64_glasses</strong></td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="success" %}
Once you've finished downloading the mods you like, you're all set!
{% endhint %}

# Get More Mods

Download and install more mods from GameBanana.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Some mods are not compatible with P4G CEP.

For example, any mod that modifies **c\_main01x2.spr** is not compatible with the pack because that file is modified by **Interface Enhancement Pack** and can't be merged.

You'll have to experiment to see what does and doesn't work, but that's part of the fun!

Always **check the mod description for CEP-related information**, and make sure the mod you're looking at isn't in the pack already.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
For a list of popular mods that are confirmed work with P4G CEP, scroll down to the [**Popular Community Mods**](#popular-community-mods) section.
{% endhint %}

Adding more mods to P4G is easier than ever with Reloaded II and GameBanana!

## Launch Reloaded II

* Open your **P4G-Mods** folder and launch **Reloaded II**.
  * You can minimize the window for now, but leave it open and make sure only one instance of Reloaded II is running.

## Get Mods from GameBanana

{% hint style="warning" %}
Some mod pages or thumbnails may contain unmarked spoilers.
{% endhint %}

[**GameBanana**](https://gamebanana.com/games/17755) is the home of the P4G modding community. Over 100 mods are available for P4G and can be installed to Reloaded II with just a few clicks!

### Browse GameBanana

* Open the [**Persona 4 Golden (64 Bit)**](https://gamebanana.com/games/17755) page on GameBanana.com

<figure><img src="/files/YvfZYvXNqopg63ZXzEnU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Mods on the **Persona 4 Golden (32 Bit)** GameBanana page are not compatible with the **64-bit** version of the game (that's what you have).
{% endhint %}

* Find a mod you like and click on it to open its page.

<figure><img src="/files/VEEXgTASJOwwSOkIMTZU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Read the entire mod description before continuing!** Mod creators write these specifically for you so that you know exactly what the mod does and how it works. Sometimes there will be additional steps you'll need to take to install the mod, or there will be a configuration menu you can use to tweak it to your liking.

<figure><img src="/files/ChSHeU8A9A0cI9CNBALX" alt=""><figcaption><p>The description for this mod is quite short, thankfully.</p></figcaption></figure>

### Download Mod

* Once you've read the entire mod description, scroll down to the **Files** section. You'll usually see two files here—some mods with multiple variants or add-ons will have more.

&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/ITjAqXTPoriC6C1ac9A1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* To download and install the mod, simply click the **Reloaded II: 1-Click Install** button.
* Your browser will ask you to confirm you want to open Reloaded II—select **Open**.

<figure><img src="/files/nOFg8fACN3pCuaot3DPN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Reloaded II will take over from here—you'll get a notification when the mod has finished downloading.

<figure><img src="/files/9qiW5sTKIuizsoJ2eSby" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* You should now see your new mod in Reloaded II. Make sure to **enable** it!

<figure><img src="/files/TlCamQcUa350PVRnN7PQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Reorder Mods in Reloaded II

Mods in Reloaded II are loaded from the top down—this means if two mods edit the same files, the mod *lower* in the grid will take priority.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Be careful, modding veterans - this is the opposite of how **Aemulus** loads packages!
{% endhint %}

* To organize your mod load order, simply drag and drop the mod to its desired position.

{% hint style="success" %}
For best results, put your custom mods at the bottom of your Reloaded II loadout, below all the mods included with P4G CEP.
{% endhint %}

## Popular Community Mods

These are just some of the many mods out there and have been confirmed to work with P4G CEP.

## Error Messages

<details>

<summary>Failed to start the process.</summary>

* Make sure your [file path to **P4G.exe**](/install/reloaded-ii#set-executable-path) is correct.
* Add an exception in your antivirus for your \_**Reloaded-II** folder.
* Try launching P4G directly through Steam, then try again with Reloaded II.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Unable to initialize SteamAPI.</summary>

This error occurs either when you aren't using a legitimate copy of P4G from Steam or when Reloaded II is unable to find or create a **steam\_appid.txt** file in the game directory.

If you're using the legitimate 64-bit version of the game and are still getting this error, you can manually create this file yourself:

* Open **Notepad** or another text editor and enter just the text **`1113000`**
  * This is P4G's app ID on Steam.
* Save this file in your [**Persona 4 Golden game directory**](https://p4g.cep.one/appendix/pages/-MfMIn7IJjCzuT-uAp-9#locate-p4g.exe) and name it **steam\_appid.txt**.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Failed to obtain port for the Reloaded instance...</summary>

* Close the error message, wait a few seconds, then try again.
* Close P4G if it is already running.
  * If you just launched the game, wait a few seconds for P4G to load.
  * Use Task Manager to check if **P4G.exe** is running in the background.
* Make sure Steam is running and that you are signed in.
* Make sure your [**Steam shortcut**](/install/create-steam-shortcut) is set up properly.
* If you are still getting this error, restart your PC and try again.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Timeout limit 30000 exceeded.</summary>

* Make sure Windows is up to date.
* Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
* Make sure your PC isn't doing a resource-heavy task in the background.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Unable to find a configuration for the currently executing application.</summary>

* Make sure your [file path to **P4G.exe**](/install/reloaded-ii#set-executable-path) is correct.

</details>

<details>

<summary>The exception unknown software exception occurred...</summary>

* If you recently moved your **P4G-Mods** folder, try launching the game once through the Reloaded II application (not a shortcut) so it can reconfigure its file paths.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Internal error in Internal/IcedPatcher.</summary>

This is an ultra-rare bug that can randomly occur.

* Restart your PC and the error message should stop appearing.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Non-negative number required.</summary>

Your copy of P4G has not been upgraded to the 64-bit version.

* [**Clean your game files**](/install/steam-and-p4g#clean-game-files) and upgrade to the 64-bit version of P4G.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.</summary>

You have added a mod to Reloaded II that only works with the 32-bit version of P4G.

* Disable or remove the incompatible mod(s).

</details>

## Reloaded II

<details>

<summary>Reloaded II does not start at all.</summary>

* Make sure you have [**installed the prerequisites**](/install/download-and-prepare#install-prerequisites).
* If Reloaded II still won't launch, try restarting your PC.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Reloaded II is asking me to download and install .NET or Visual C++ Redist.</summary>

* You need to [**install the prerequisites**](/install/download-and-prepare#install-prerequisites).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Reloaded II launches P4G, but there aren't any mods.</summary>

* Make sure **Persona Essentials** and **Inaba EXE Patcher** are enabled and at the top of your loadout in Reloaded II.
* Make sure the **P4G Community Enhancement Pack** mod is enabled in Reloaded II.
* Launch the **Reloaded II** application (not a shortcut) and download any updates.

</details>

## Persona 4 Golden

<details>

<summary>P4G won't launch / P4G immediately crashes after launching.</summary>

* Launch P4G directly through Steam to see if it works without mods.
* Try running the [**installing the prerequisites**](/install/download-and-prepare#install-prerequisites) again.
* If you added any non-CEP mods to Reloaded II, disable them and try again.

</details>

<details>

<summary>My controller isn't working.</summary>

* Close any controller mapping software like DS4Windows, BetterJoy, or reWASD.
* Try pressing the **Xbox** / **PlayStation** / **Home** button on your controller once the game starts the opening movie or title screen.
* If you are using your controller wirelessly, try plugging it in over USB.
* If you are launching P4G from your Steam shortcut, try using the **Launch Application** action in Reloaded II instead.

</details>

<details>

<summary>The loading screens are long and the game is stuttering (when summoning a Persona, during All-Out Attacks, etc.).</summary>

This was a legacy problem that affected older versions of Persona Essentials, but it's been corrected in newer versions.

* Make sure Persona Essentials is version **2.5** or higher.
* Make sure CriFSV2 Hook is version **2.2.1** or higher.

Reloaded II should check for and automatically download updates for both of these tools when it starts up.

</details>

<details>

<summary>This motion blur sucks!</summary>

You can reduce the game's motion blur by playing at a higher frame rate.\
If your hardware can hit 90+ FPS, the motion blur effect will be seriously reduced.

* Launch P4G.
* At the main menu, select **Config** and go to the **Graphics** tab.
* Set the **Vsync** setting to **Off** and the **FPS Limit** setting to **90** or **120**.
* Save your settings.

</details>

### Cutscenes are playing slowly or are being skipped entirely.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Integrated graphics processors are not officially supported by Atlus and may not be able to play in-game cutscenes at full speed.
{% endhint %}

There are a few possible fixes for this issue:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Install WMP" %}
Atlus recommends installing **Windows Media Player** if you are having trouble with cutscene playback.

* Open the Windows **Start Menu**.
* Type **"apps and features"** and press Enter to open the **Apps and features** page in the Settings application.
* Select **optional features** below the second "Apps and features" header.
* Select **add a feature** at the top of the **Optional features** page.
* Type **"Windows Media Player"** into the search bar. If WMP is not installed, it should appear in the list below.
* Check the box for **Windows Media Player**, then click **Install (1)** at the bottom of the window.
* Once Windows has finished downloading and installing WMP, restart your PC.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you are using **Windows 10 N** or **Windows 10 KN**, search for and install the **Media Feature Pack** as well using the same process.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Force dGPU" %}
If you have a laptop with both an Nvidia graphics card and integrated graphics, Windows might be choosing the weak Intel graphics automatically to save power.

* Right-click on the Desktop and select **NVIDIA Control Panel**.
* Select **Manage 3D settings** on the left panel.
* Select the **Program Settings** tab.
* Click **Add** and select **Persona 4 Golden** from the list of applications.
* From the dropdown menu under the application, select **High-performance NVIDIA processor**.
* Click **Apply**.

# FAQ

Answers to frequently asked questions.

{% hint style="info" %}
This page is for answers to general questions about P4G CEP.

For assistance with common issues during setup, refer to the [**Troubleshooting**](/appendix/troubleshooting) page.
{% endhint %}

## Getting Started

<details>

<summary>Is P4G CEP a good choice for first-time players?</summary>

**Yes.** We've worked with the modding community to carefully select mods that create a "vanilla-plus" game experience.

There are a few small changes we've made to the game balance and mechanics to reduce frustration or reliance on random chance, but this is not a total overhaul pack. If you don't want to use these balance tweaks, you can disable them yourself in Reloaded Ii.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I use P4G CEP in the middle of my playthrough, without starting a new game?</summary>

**Yes.** P4G CEP is fully compatible with unmodded P4G save data.

You can start using P4G CEP at any time from an unmodded playthrough, and you can stop using P4G CEP at any time to go back to playing unmodded.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I use P4G CEP on the Steam Deck?</summary>

**Yes!** P4G CEP is available for the Steam Deck.

Open the **p4g-cep-deck-docs.wacz** file for installation instructions.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I use P4G CEP on the Nintendo Switch?<br>Can I use P4G CEP with the Microsoft Store version of P4G?</summary>

**Sorry, but no.** Our mods and tools don't support these platforms.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I still earn Steam achievements and trading cards while using P4G CEP?</summary>

**Yes.** You can still earn every achievement in the game and trading cards will drop.

Note that the **Ultimate Persona Compendium Registration** mod makes it so that the protagonist's ultimate Persona will count towards 100% completion of the Persona Compendium and the **Thorough Bookkeeper** achievement.

In order to earn this achievement, you will need to fuse this Persona in New Game+.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will I be banned from P4G's online features for using mods or cheats?</summary>

**No.** As far as we know, nobody has ever been banned from P4G's online features for playing with mods or cheats.

</details>

## Installation

<details>

<summary>Should I install the Large Address Aware patch / 4GB Patch onto P4G.exe?</summary>

**No.** You haven't needed that patch for years!

* The original v1.0 build of 32-bit P4G was very unstable - even if you just took a screenshot, it would overload its 2 GB of addressable memory and crash!
* Users would install the Large Address Aware patch onto P4G 1.0. This would let the game address 4 GB of memory instead of 2 GB, reducing out-of-memory crashes.
* Atlus noticed this problem and responded - P4G 1.1 was still 32-bit, but it baked the patch into the base executable to allow it to address 4 GB of memory.
* And finally, the 64-bit update allows P4G to address **16,000,000,000 GB** of memory!

</details>

## Playing P4G

<details>

<summary>How do I open the configuration menu for Custom Sub Menu?</summary>

* In any overworld area, open the sub menu.
  * Xbox: **X**\
    PlayStation: **Square**\
    Nintendo: **Y**\
    Keyboard: **F**
* With the sub menu open, press the Command Menu button.
  * Xbox: **Y**\
    PlayStation: **Triangle**\
    Nintendo: **X**\
    Keyboard: **Tab**

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where is the Mod Menu option in Custom Sub Menu?</summary>

The **Mod Menu** tool is designed for mod developers to test their mods and was never intended or tested for end users. However, a number of users have attempted to use it as a "cheats menu" and ended up breaking their save data, sometimes irreversibly.

The Mod Menu is hidden by default in P4G CEP. There is a way to re-enable it, but we do not recommend it for end users as **the community cannot help you if you break your save**.
